I just want to say hi to the group and post a nice picture a friend took of me.
My interest right now is surf fishing. I slipped and took a spill twice on separate occasions at the Port O'Connor Jetty a while back. And I was extremely careful the second time. My body doesn't care to take chances anymore. I'm 70 years young.
I got myself two nice rods for the surf and that's what I'm about learning now. I have the knots and rigs all down pat. The day this picture was taken I took two young ladies on a Texas Beach adventure. The importance was not so much to catch fish. But I did catch a few tiny ones. I still have a long way to go to perfecting that sought after on-spot long distance cast. I did got a lot of practice in...

Get you some tight fitting beach shoes and get out there with em. When I surf fish it’s usually between the first and second sand bars. Just remember to shuffle your feet to scare off the stingray’s. Don’t forget to cast back towards the beach either. I also am avoiding the rocks as I have no plans for being rescued from them. Good luck.

SkyDiverBob: I realize that you are 70, but you should think about more coverage because the Texas sun will put you in the doctor's office to cut or burn off the skin cancers if you continue to be exposed as you are dressed in the photo. Safe shoes will keep you from falling as much on the jetties, if you are extremely careful, but skin cancers due to over exposure to the sun will almost be guaranteed. Also, for the exposed parts, hands face, neck, use a high numbered sun block. It will save you a lot of misery and costs later on. Just Sayin...

I am too nasty to get skin cancers. But I know I have to wear some protective clothing to prevent another repeat sunburn... 🤣

You may be old and nasty, but the Texas sun will get you, regardless. I have a few years on you, and a lot of friends who have regular appointments, like I do, with their dermatologist to burn off skin cancers from their head, face and body. I for one, would wish I didn't have to go. Just Sayin...RJS
