I am going to NH this weekend in the Ossippee/Freedom area. Does anyone know any ponds or lakes that have the possibility of any accessible bank fishing in that area (where I can park my vehicle and walk around the body of water)? I am willing to travel 25 or 30 miles from that vicinity to find productive areas to fish. I am interested in mostly fishing for Largemouth Bass and Trout.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
gr8advice: Well, Hoss, have you considered using Google, or Bing to search the area? Here in Houston, I have a weather app on my phone. It allows me to scan the area for weather, but it also shows all the lakes and ponds! Once you find a likely place, if it has a name, google that name to see what requirements are to fish there. Not difficult. Good Luck and show us some pictures of your catch. Just Sayin...RJS
I could do some research but wouldn't necessarily know if the place was easy to access from the bank. I thought having anybody with experience fishing in the area might lead me in the right direction and then I would do the research about any restrictions or if I would be trespassing.
Yes, no question about that, if there is someone familiar with the area. I googled the area and there is a lot of information on the web. When you find a place that might be suitable, try to pull up their website and inquire about bank fishing, license, limits. etc. Just Sayin..RJS
I partially found my own answer to the question, which might be generally helpful to others. I found the NH Fish and Game publishes an Angler's Guide to Freshwater Fishing in NH. Within that publication is a section that provides the names of lakes, types of fish and the accessibility by car for each pond or lake. Still can't tell if the pond/lake is bank accessible in the sense that there may be house on the body of water that are private.

Hi gr8advice, In CT we have areas called "Community Fishing Waters " in urban areas that are bank accessible. Also an "Enhanced Opportunity Shore Fishing Program " for saltwater shore access. You may want to check up there for any simular listings. Good Luck in your search,it's beautiful country up there.
GREAT ADVICE! Thank you very much! I'm going to try that very soon!

I live in southern Maine not far from the NH state line. Many many lakes in the area, and most of the shoreline of all of them is privately owned. You are pretty much relegated to fishing at boat ramps if bank fishing. My advice would be to cartop a canoe or kayak. Then New England is your oyster.
I know this is a few years late on a reply, but I just joined this community. Where I live in Madison, NH, n between Ossipee AND Freedom, in case other people are searching for waters to throw a line in from 2023 and forthgoing, I figured I'd let a secret or 2 slip out of the gems I've found on my own with my husband where we've had good luck.
