I picked a good mess of silver queen out of my garden yesterday. I got 23 quarts off the cob. And gave 4 dozen ears to the kids. The next mess I will pickle on the cob.

You are showing the best corn known to man kind in my opinion. We try and get the kids to ship us a dozen or two every year. They tried growing it here in the south but some southern bug got a hold of it. They actually have a version of it but not nearly as good.

Mike, I never heard of pickling corn. Is that something local? I remember when I was a kid when Mom said it was corn day, I would get the wheelbarrow and start picking. We'd start at about 8AM and finish around 4PM. She blanched and I cut. Took care of the whole winter. BTW I never saw silver queen til I moved to south Jersey. All we grew was golden cross bantam.

I put electric fence around the garden that keeps the four legged critters out. Crowe’s and black birds are kinda a problem.

Some folks down here have that plastic owl in their gardens and swear buy it. Others say its a waste. I saw one on a pier not far from here i think the were trying to keep the gulls off the dock. Funny thing is the head of the owl was gone.
