Putting line on a spinning reel
When putting line on a fishing reel, you open the bail. Do you go under the or over the spool to tie the knot , cut the excessive tag line and begin to add the line to reel. I am trying to not add the line onto the spool in the incorrect direction so as to avoid line tangles
Your help and suggestions are appreciated.

PFC: Hoss, after you have tied the line on the spool, cut the tag, just crank the handle, the bail will pick up the line and lay it in the proper direction. Be sure to keep a strong tension on the donor spool. If you don't, the line will be loose and will cut into the lower levels and cause problems. Good Luck, post some pictures. Just Sayin...RJS

There was a post on here last week about that. You need to look it up. Place line spool lable facing up. After spooling reel take off reel and put in very hot tap water for 10 min.
Yep: Seems like this pops up about once a week, regularly. Just Sayin...RJS
After you've spooled your new mono or fluorocarbon line and you're
in your boat, let out the length of line you'll be casting with your boat
underway at moderate speed. This will straighten out your line. These
lines tend to take a set, so I do this at the beginning of each day or whenever
loops or spirals start going through the guides. Works the same for casting
for casting and spinning reels.
YouTube has become my best friend! I search almost every project I do now there. The video's help me out because I have a hard time learning from reading. I blame the two strokes but, my teachers would tell you I've been this way since I learned to read! I guess once a knuckle head always a knucklehead?? Good luck and "Keep on Catchin"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you tube will save many words. but if you do it the wrong way ? you will learn from your mistake and not do it again. i use braid because i have done it wrong too.
So I guess that it does not matter if tI the line under or over the spool to tie the knot? I will try it the way you replied to my post.
Also, Can you please me advise as to How To Attach a Picture to a reply to a post as well as adding a picture when creating a post.?
Thank you for your assistance.

Yes I did see the post. video about putting line on a spring reel. He did say that it is important about the the label but he never mentioned, that I recall, about bringing line under or over the spool to tie the knot. Does it matter over or under the spool for the line to be placed correctly on the reel so as to have a smooth cast with out any line tangles?

You on a phone or computer
Why put the spool in hot water? I’ve fished with spinning reels for 55+ years & never heard that. Thanks, John

The video said it changes the memory from the bigger spool it came off of to the size of the reel spool you put it on. I did one last week and haven't had a problem yet. Notice I said YET. LOL
Thank you for the fast response. I’ll have to try it. I’ve always kept my pound test to the ranges on the spool & has no problems.
I saw on YouTube a fellow using what is called A Fishing Line Winder Spooler to put line onto a fishing reel.
I am attaching a picture of the box. Googling the name Burle , I found YouTube articles showing how to use this fishing line winder spooler. Although the YouTube had a different name for the product it is one in the same. If you have the opportunity to watch the YouTube article I think you will impressed with this item in comparison to some of the other line spooler in the market. I did buy the unit from Amazon.
I already added fishing line to 4 new fpinning fishing reels.
Please post a comment if you see the YouTube Article so that other anglers may be interested in looking at the YouTube article well.
