How often do you use a multi-tool

I have a Swiss army knife that my brother gave me when I was 11 and a small n free must-tool that I keep I the car. I am considering asking for a better one for Christmas, but now am wondering how often you guys use your good one in a week and how much did it cost? (the prices seem to have quite a range and made in America really adds to the price)
Thank you
I have a leatherman wave and I use it all the time when I go fishing. It's in my gear bag and always available. I've had it for about 20 years and it has never failed to function. Personally I don't know how I ever went fishing without it. The wave is not cheap, but if you don't lose it and you take reasonably good care it you'll never need to buy another one. Very well made and reliable. I have no experience with the cheaper ones, so can't advise you on those. I know that the wave has a tendency to be slick and slip out of your hand and go overboard if you're a boat fisherman. You can solve that by putting it on a lanyard and hanging it around your neck - or do like I did and buy some adhesive non-skid strips and attach to it - slipperiness solved.

Spiritof27 Speak truth! I had a filet knife that was home made, and was my favorite knife. You could not buy another like it and I wouldn't have sold it.
We were Fishing in Breton Sound with my son and friend. For some reason, my son was using my knife to cut up something, laid the knife on the gunnels of the boat. You guessed it, it went overboard. If we had not been drifting due to the wind, I would have jumped overboard and tried to dive and find my favorite knife. It didn't do any good to get angry, but I was for a while. Just Sayin...RJS

Thanks. solid advice.
I too carry a leatherman wave. Pull it out 10-15 times a day. Handy man and honey do's just seem to require it. I don't get dressed without it. Comes with a lifetime warrantee also. Sent it in for repairs twice and really missed it when it was out.
I've had my husky multi tool for about 10 yrs now. Its on my belt all the time . I use it when fishing and also have a backup in the glove box of the truck. I cost me about 25 dollars. Lifetime warranty on it also. Its held up very well.
Love my Gerber. Keep in box on my saltwater boat. Shows a little rust
Don't wear em,got a victorinox in my hunting backpack, one in the boat,& one in toolbox in trk
Luv em
I have carried a Leatherman Pulse for nearly 20 years. Use it every day, numerous times. Would be lost without it.

I also have one, free, Gerber sent me one, when the rep saw me with a Leatherman at the gun shop, where I worked. When the first Leatherman came out we bought 500 of them. Sold out of them in a week. I think I have 3, I wore out the first one, from opening it up so often. I cut open every package that came in, plus!! I would pull it out with two fingers and flip it open and the knife blade would come out also. If someone ask which I like better, it would have to be the Gerber.
I bought the original leatherman about 30 years ago. That was before they were popular. I used it for everything. Now, I have the Wave and never looked back. I’m a powerlineman and I wouldn’t be caught dead without it. It’s amazing what you can do with it in a pinch.

The Leatherman I have is one of the most useful tools I've owned.

I am a Gerber preferrer. Have had several of both. You couldn’t carry them on the plane when I flew. The TSA PEOPLE seemed to remove them from my luggage when I flew. I even hid them in a sock inside a pair of my boots and they still disappeared. Hope they enjoyed them as much as I did.

The TSA folks are definitely thieves. My wife had a new bra stolen on a non-stop flight from Tulsa to Denver.

You guys are the best. You have convinced me that I need to own a good one, but the choice brand will be a tough one.
