First fishing rod - what should I buy?

My previous rod was a cheap Walmart one! It did amazing for our fishing pond - 10 inch bass, but I’m looking for a nicer rod to do some heavier fishing! My price range is in the middle. I have some money so the higher end pokes for a starter that would last would be more ideal than a decent one that I would be replacing as I fish more :)

When you say “in the middle” I think you need to be more specific. A Berkley Lightning rod will cost you like $35. A G. Loomis Conquest MBR is close to $800. Your definition of the middle will help us suggest something for you

Yeah generally for bass gear I would consider $200 to $350 to be mid range gear depending on brand.

I do know prices when it comes to poles but if this is what you consider the middle that’s perfect !!

in the middle is very vast depending on the person. It could mean an phenix feather. It could mean a carpenter monster hunter.

Literally buy any $100-125 rod and you will be thrilled.

Look at a Shimano Scimitar not too expensive and a rod you will like. Also for a first rod a 7 foot Ugly Stick Medium Duty will last you a long time. Whatever you get I hope you catch a lot of fish with it.

If you can go to the pro bass shop you can find that rodssssss then they will help you spend the rest of money on some reels.

Well I bought an Ugly Stik Elite spinning combo for $50.00. Most of the other places I checked were $70.00.
I was upset when I received it as it did not come pre-spooled with line. It was supposed to.
After about alot of E-mails back & forth, I said I'll take it back to the nearest R.K. and talk to the manager.
The next day I received an email from RK & she said she talked to someone and they would send me some line and wanted to know what lb line I wanted. So now I am waiting for the line to arrive. The bad thing about that is I will have to put the line on myself. You have to be careful ordering anything on line.
