Went fishing for Striper at my usual spot yesterday AM. Bite was slow as high tide was late AM and it was kind of a mild high tide.

Caught a couple small Stripers and was getting bored so I walked around to an area with a tree, cast out my Mepps black fury on my smaller bass pole and on the 5th cast I had this nice largemouth. Then caught another right behind it but tossed that one back.

I guess this little guy hitting the frying pan is better than nothing. I'm stacking my freezers one fish at a time, for the apocalypse LOL.

Morning ladies and gents. Nah for the stripers I fish on another pole, heavier, usually with frozen sardines or swimbaits.

Was it you, Spirit that mentioned browns on the Gerle River? I'm trying to lean more about those too.

It was great. Going fishing for me is like kids going to Disneyland, I wish I could do it more. It's the Mokulumne River, where it meets the Sac River.

Yes. Gerle Creek. Haven't been up there to fish in quite a while. Gerle Creek Reservoir is below Loon Lake in the Chrystal Basin Rec Area. It is not stocked by DFW, so all the trout in it are wild. It has a very healthy (or used to at least) population of brown trout. It's a small lake, no motor boats other than electric allowed. Perfect little lake for tube or kayak or canoe. There is a camp ground, first come first served. Also a very small day use area. It's worth the trip, gorgeous place. Oh it is one of the few lakes around here that actually has (or used to) a fishing platform for disabled folks. Well kept secret. You want some brown trout tips? Let us know.

The black fury is a go to. I've caught several large brown trout on that lure.
Where you are looks like a good place. Keep having good days and slowly fill the freezer.

I am eager to get on some trout. I was at Lake Hume a couple weeks back, near Big Bear and my buddies caught a couple trout. I was mainly drinking. It was good eating though, trout tastes amazing, especially fresh caught.

Yah man I love that lure. Always gets some attention. Never thought of it for trout, thanks for the info.

Looks like a great day Gills.
I could be wrong but I thought the Moke joined up with the San Joaquin. We’re you near Wimpys?

It may be close to Wimpy's. I've heard of that spot but not fished it. I fish kind of near the bridge/lockes in the city of Walnut Grove.

A friend who grew up in the area showed me the spot, no had no idea it was the Mokulumne. He says off the sac River but who knows lol.

Yep. The lockes will get you over to the Sac.
