Well,,,,,,,,,,, You didn't get skunked. Turtles are good eating, I don't know if you have a season on them or not. Don't ask me how to skin or fix them. My dad use to do that but I was pretty young at the time and never paid any attention to how he did it. I do remember they were good.
Turtle soup is the only thing I’ve ever had and it was darn good eatin. Many years ago when I did work projects in the south. Can’t for the life of me remember where I ate it but remember it was so good.

Was that home done or at a restaurant? I mostly ate at restaurants but quite a few times locals would make up a batch of their favorite things and share with me. That was always a welcome treat.

So many times the posts on here remind me of years past. Some of the places and so much of the food. Not much food I didn’t enjoy. Some so much more than others. I traveled for work and have been in all 50 states (most states way too many times) and 2 years ago completed my wife's desire to see all 50 states (took 10 years of our ‘anniversary’ trips). Took her to many of the neat places and even got her to eat things I never dreamed she would touch! Such a great country and diversity of people and cuisine. Stay safe out there my friend
Use a hatchet, etc. to cut the shell into two halves, knife the meat out, skin the legs, cut into small bite size pieces, dip in egg, roll in crumbs and fry like chicken tenders.

More than likely snapping turtle. And like the soft shell, it’s good eating.
