Didn’t think walleyes we’re supposed to bite on a warm calm day in the afternoon. This one was 29 1/4” long and caught another 5 minutes later which I released. Both in 16’ of water and using a 4 1/2” Powerbait worm.

I ate my first walleye while on vacation several years ago, maybe ten, at the Lemon Wolf Cafe on the shores of Lake Superior between Duluth and Grand Portage, Minnesota. I also had my first Moose Drool beer. The name intrigued me into trying it.

Oh Shi1, BF, you would drink any beer, Moose Drool, Rino Poop, Spotted Cow, Piss Ale, as long are it goes down the tube. You have seen the best of MN. if it was in the Fall.

We arrived in Duluth the 15th of May at the Black Bear Casino (I believe that's right) in the midst of a moderate snowfall. In our travels up and down the coast , the nights were between 20-40 degrees, but the days were perfect. Gorgeous country, with plenty of waterfalls and several lighthouses we visited. We had a good time in our motorhome bus.

Walleye season usually opens the second Sat. in May, so the season may have been open. The border waters are open all year long. I'm glad you got to see our state, it is a beautiful place to live, but not in the Winter.

Looking at the map, seems situated in the heartland of Minnesota, the land of a thousand lakes

Good luck to you, IF! It's not the best time of the season to go up there if you plan on catching fish. If you are just going up to relax, enjoy it. Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,, enjoy yourself regardless.

We go when we can. June wedding spoiled chances for an earlier trip, I get a knee replaced August 19th, so had to plan it in between. Always fun fishing, even if the catching isn't the best.
