Hi Folks--I leave for South Dakota Sunday and am wondering what to purchase for the best Lake Map program. I would like to be able to have contoured Lake Maps with ability to see exacgtly where I am on those digital lake maps , mark waypoints, save drift and trolling routes and keep those points for the following year. I am wondering also if I should go with a handheld GPS or my Andorid Phone for this purpose or just upgrade to a new loactor (problem is I may be in my buddies boat and not mine--and so I almost beed something portable )

Hoss on my Android phone I have a navionic app that will do what you seem to be looking for. You can get it on play station it's called Navionics H.D.boating it's $14 for a year.If your buddy has a newer locator it may have 2 card slots if so you can put a blank card in one slot and make a map

I have used the navionics app on my
Android phone for a couple of years
And its amazing. waypoints can be shared if you want (helpful on new water) shows you moving on lakes contour, saves routes, drops pins
I also use it in the winter on the the ice here in Minnesota
When I signed up they had a 30 day free trial.
Navionics boating HD marine and lakes Play store has it

Shred when I lived in Michigan l used my Nav app for ice fishing too. I would mark structure in the summer I knew held fish in the winter and go out on the ice drill a hole and be right on the spot the first time.

Clay--I just subscribed to the one year Navionics on my Android phone. So it is there and looks really nice--problem is Clay can I now also have Navionics on an Android /Google Tablet or Laptop for the boat so I can see it better?
ALso--my buddy has a nice Locator on his boat that we are taking and a dual SD card slot. So Idont quite understand how i could do what you described. I think I would have to purchase the Map Plotter card. ? Does that ake sense? Ideas?

D Shred--I just sent a note to Clay. Could you view it and see if you have an answer to the questions I posed? (Bascially-once on my Android Phone--can I view the maps on a bigger tablet or laptop when out on the water so I can see it better (old fart with poor eyes? )
Also--I think I would have to purchase more things to download it into my buddies FIsh Locator I think?

Hoss I would think you could down load the Nav app on any device that you can get games from play station you would probably have to pay for it each time. As far as the locator I have 2 slots on mine I'm not sure if you need both cards or not if your buddy's locator has the Lake map on from the factory you may just need the blank card (check owners manual) if it didn't come with the lake map installed he's going to have to buy the card with the map on it.

Pair and my tech savvy is limited
Menu shows how to pair devices if they are compatible or contact support
Tech stuff can be frustrating but this
App helped a lot and it's worth the work
