I'm kinda new to bass fishing and I'm having the hardest time getting a bite, I've been going to a place called Hinkson Slough out here in northern nevada. Its I believe about 6 or 7 feet of water, dark with minimal visability. I believe there are some weeds down on the bottom but dont think its alot. I was hoping some of yall could point me in the right direction on gear, I'll be stopping at a cabelas or possibly scheels tomorrow and want to just make a single trip since you know.. paranoia. I have a bait caster and a spin reel both on braid but willing to switch out whatever I need to! There's also brown trout in the water if anyone has tips for that to.

I’m up here in WA. But regardless of fish, I’ve always had luck with good ol nightcrawler. Catch almost anything on any day with that. There’s almost as many ways to fish with a worm as there are fishes.

For browns up here I use a spinner with either worm or power bait on it. The baits are overkill but I think it helps. I like blue fox vibrax for my lures. Caught bass, trout, and steelhead on that there lure.

Leader? Why a leader? You’re casting right? Having a swivel and a leader is good for trolling to try and keep your line from twisting. Why do you want a leader? Honest question.

Thought I'd need a different line than braid to use one of these vibrax, sorry really new to gear and assumed that the braid was really for top water type stuff since it floats.

How are you rigging it? I’ve heard Senkos all day long, I don’t have experience with them.

Been just using a texas rig with a bullet weight, thinking maybe the weight is to much cause I keep getting caught on the bottom. Not sure though I'm just super new and dont know much lol

Texas rig is good especially if theres alot of aquatic vegetation and you dont need a weight to fish with them

Try weightless Texas rigged senko. Slow slow retrieve.

Depends on water visibility and sunlight. If you are fishing really dirty water I would go with black and blue all day. If it's pretty clean and the sun is out try a green pumpkin with some flake (glitter) in it. My favorite color of all time is Dark pumpkin with blue black and purple flake!
