Damaged cables??
Think they also have a shaft bearing,could look there too

Had to replace the left cable yesterday on my minn kota. The cause was the screws in the collar had backed out and messed up the top bearing causing the cable to break. I have to wait until tomorrow to try and get the bearing. The screws also scared the inside of the shaft. So it may be more than just the cable that needs replacing. Something caused it to mess up.

Not to sound cocky, but I assume you checked/:loosened the tension adjustment screw (if equipped). My 2019 minnkota 50 lb thrust has that feature.
