Hello are you fisherman. I’m new to the site. I’m 72 years old and have done a fair amount of stream fishing years ago in the Sierras. Then I bought a boat and did a lot of fishing and diving in the ocean. I sold my boat a year ago this past May. 20 years ago I did a fair amount of flyfishing. And have recently gotten into it again. We will be in Pinegrove in September California. And plan on fishing the Mokelumne river. Does anybody have any advice for me and my friends?

I'm 72 also and I'm very familiar with that area but not familiar with the Mokolumne. I do know that there is river access just south of Jackson on hiway 49. But I've never been there and I've never fished it. If you take 88 east out of Jackson you'll come to hiway 26 and that goes over to a bridge over the river. Never been there either, so no idea what's that like. Here is a helpful link:

Bill Reynolds is the proprietor and he is as knowledgeable as anyone about fishing in that region. He is a great guy. Shoot him an email and he will respond.

Your problem with fishing the Mokolumne is going to be access, but if anyone can tell you how to get there, it will be Bill, and if he can't, I'll bet he knows someone around Jackson that you could talk to. If you do go up 88 and over to that bridge, please let us know what you find. Photos please. We love pictures.

And welcome to the stage bob s.

Morning Bob and welcome.
If you don’t mind driving about 15 miles go down to Jackson and go south on 49 towards Mokelumne Hill. Just before you get to the bridge that crosses the Mokelumne River turn left onto Electra Rd. There is great river access all along there and you might even get to watch the white water kayakers do their thing. The river is big enough along there that they won’t be in your way.
The river access on hwy 26 is in a steep canyon and at our age it’s a bit of a climb back out.
Good luck and pictures please. Thanks
