I seriously got into fishing in the last 3 years and own a pretty good starter bait caster setup. However, I think it’s time for an upgrade. I’m looking for a rod and reel that are combined less than $250. Any recommendations? I fish mainly for bass and pike

I really really like my Concept Z’s & you can usually find them for $120-150 on Amazon. Usually a $200 reel then get whatever rod you’d like...I’d recommend a MH 7’-7’3”

Go for it now. ABU Garcia 5500C on a black max 6 1/2 ft med act rod. Your looking at a combo that will last for years and years. 12# trilene XL.

This is a combo that will last for years. Some many talk about this reel and that rod, even the so called pro never need to use the same rod and reel combos for over two years. I have Abu Garcia reels that are over 15 years old still work great. As a fishing guide I had equipment to last thru more than a few years. It all costs us money.
We need to purchase equipment that will last, maybe long enough to pass on to children and maybe grandchildren.
