I use 2 hands with my casts. One finger placed around reel other holding line. I like to control the line with my fingers. But I think starting out you need to remember your whipping the lure/bait. The strength you use is determined by its weight/type. The heavier it is the harder you can. You can’t force a cast. Its only going as far as your lure weight line type and rod type will allow. If they are mismatched it’ll cast poorly

Define "far" please. You'll get the most out of your setup if the rod and reel are balanced, the reel is loaded with the correct line for the rod and the weight on the terminal end is the max for the rod. All those things being equal, a longer rod will cast further than a shorter one. After that it's practice practice practice. In other words, fish fish fish. Good luck!

Do not bring the lure up close to the rod tip; let it hang down six or more inches. That makes it somewhat like a slingshot and will add great distance to the cast.

And it's always a good idea to just cast the bait or,lure. Hang on to the rod. They cost a bunch to replace........Just sayin'😂

Rhythm is the key just like in fly casting. don't "power cast" your lures. It takes a little practice but worth it fishing into the wind as well.
