Welcome to the Forum, fordman. I sure someone knows how to do it on the Forum, but I can't help you out.
We caught carp on doughballs made of the cheapest "pop-open" biscuit dough we could find. Tried several ingredients, but garlic powder or garlic salt worked best. My Scoutmaster added various food coloring to his recipe.... didn't seem to get better results, except RED, sorta....and stained your hands.
Keep it in a cooler, never in the sun ! My buddy , Wesley, let his cottage cheese container of bait sit out on a big rock one time, and came back to a really ugly, slightly cooked "loaf" !
Had I been more experienced, I might have added some cheese, maybe...??
Note... just got off the phone with my oldest brother, my Malaysian-born foster brother....he said "add SOY SAUCE, everything is better with soy on it, you know that".
LMAO !
I used to make doughballs but plain canned corn works 100x better so I quit
When I used to catfish a lot, a dude came by one evening and decided he was gonna set up right by where I was fishing. He's got the entire canal he can fish with plenty of sweet spots, but no, he's gonna try to keep me entertained. He was fishing for carp and had a big ol dough ball about the size of a soft ball and he would pinch off a little and put it on a little bitty treble hook. I believe it was just raw bread dough, that's what it looked like. Any ways, I little later I hear him hollering (in Russian I believe) and look up and my fishin dog Tipper had got hold of his dough ball, had it in his mouth and wasn't givin it up. Told him I guess you're gonna hafta go get some more, either that or you take it away from him. Good dog.
We used to make it out of flour, water, some spices and added cotton balls to help it stay on.
My dad used to make them when we went for carp. Flour, water and vanilla extract was his formula. It worked.
Used to make them out of Quaker Oats with vanilla and p nut butter. Mix with water Put them nylon stockings and squeeze the water out. Get for carp.
When I was a child growing up in Northwest Arkansas we used to fish for carp using dough balls made from Wheaties cereal. Just mix up a bowl using a little water. Let them sit until the dry a little.

As a kid my dad would use Wheaties to make them and water from the lake we fished at.

1 cup flour
1 cup cornmeal
Mix together. Add water just enough to combine ingredients together and form a ball, kinda like bread.
Place the dough ball in a cloth (a dish towel works good) and tie it tight so the ball is snug in the cloth. I use a bread bag tie for this.
Next place it in boiling water for approximately 15 to 20 min.
Then remove it and remove cloth, place it in a bowl and let it cool to the touch.
Next pour about a half to three quarters packet of strawberry jello powder mix onto the dough and mix it thoroughly thru the dough ball, it will be sticky. Place it in a plastic zip bag and refrigerate.
If you get everything right this stuff is almost impossible to throw off the hook and works great for carp and i have caught catfish on it. Keep it in a cooler when fishing. Pinch off a piece, form it on the hook making sure the point is visible. You may have to wet it a bit to work it on the hook. I even dip mine in the water for a few seconds before casting it out, it seems to stiffen it a bit.
Note: you can substitute vanilla extract or garlic powder for the strawberry jello but my best luck was with the strawberry. Best of luck .. Good fishing
I remember my dad made doughball cornmeal and flour. I think he cooked a little and mixed in vanilla and cotton. The cotton gave it fiber to hold it together. A lot of the recipes posted are all good. It wouldn't hurt to mix in cotton with them. Good luck. Tight lines and good fishing.
