Graywulff, that picture looks like Lone Cone peak. I bow hunted Elk for many years up there. All around Groundhog Resivoir. Have you ever fished Groundhog?

You're right Randy, it is Lone Cone taken from Miramonte. We fished Groundhog on Thursday, Al caught 2. He had the right color and I didn't.πŸ˜ƒ

Day 2:Fresh air, sunshine and scenery! Wind was too high to even keep the line in the water. Rented a boat yesterday and A caught a couple of small rainbows but the catching hasn't been too good.

For 6 or 7 years my camp was right up there at timber line, under the Cone for most of September. And I would usually hunt down towards Groundhog. I had some amazing times up there. But never took the time to fish.

Parks and wildlife tries to maintain a wild trout population in the lake and it also has freshwater shrimp so the meat of the trout is pink as a sunset! They also get quite big and the fall fishing can get spectacular!

Just bouncing between my ears waiting for the right time.

Suprised myself that I remembered.

I think it might have been the kind of willows that stuck with me.
