Thx RJ. So much has changed since I retired. I was one of the last to get full retirement. I understand now that a person who retires now only gets about 55% of retired pay until he/she gets 55 years old and then full retirement pay. As for the G.I. Bill...I havent heard much about it in years. I would hope it's still available but I can understand if it's been tangled up in more RED TAPE!

That was an 'idea' that didn't pass out of the Congressional committee that reviewed it. 20 and done is still the rule if you choose. As you get older you really appreciate the medical benefits. If you live close enough to a military installation the Commissary remains a decent benefit while the exchanges usually save only the sales taxes of the state you reside in.
37 years after retiring I still miss the camaraderie with the troops.

Camaraderie is something seldom seen in civilian life. I believe it's because all of the troops are working towards a set goal. True, friends are close and special but at the end of the day each has his/her own life with their own goals and priorities.
