I finally broke my skunk streak with a super tiny bass, but it's better than nothing! The last 4 times I've gone out, nothing. 3 of those days I didn't even get a bite! I'm usually out there for 3-4 hours at a time, walking around the lake or up / down the river/creek

I'd say more often than less I'd at least catch one fish, probably close to 25% of the time I catch nothing. But, if your counting fish of legal size, then 99% of the time but go home empty handed.

If keepers are the threshold for getting skunked, then I've gotten skunked every time I've gone out fishing since I started a few months ago lol I'm just in it for the thrill of the fight

If fishing for bass or pike usually get skunked 20% of the time, targeting anything else and get skunked 80+% of the time.

That's the reason why when I go out, I'm just trying to catch whatever is out there! One of these days I'll be confident enough to go out targeting a single species

I'd say that I don't get a complete skunk very often, but that really depends on what I actually want to fish for. I usually go for bass, but if they aren't biting, will go for bluegill or crappie, and if they aren't biting and I really want to fish, I will try catfishing down at the river. 9 times out of 10 I will catch something, but it really depends on what's available to you. I was going the catfish route one day and pulled up a turtle. Talk about a suction cup to the bottom of the river... I swear it was like pulling up a rock. The thing about fishing is that it's called fishing for a reason. Otherwise it would be called catching... and where's the fun in that?!?

I haven’t been skunked since 2018. Given I’ve had bad days, and have only just barely managed to get the stink off, but for the most part I do fairly well simply because I’m fishing waters I’ve spent a lot of time learning, for fish I’ve studied and caught for years. Now when it comes to learning new water? Oh boy. Get ready for some serious skunkings until you figure the spot and the patterns out.

Surprisingly not very often do I catch no fish at all. Mostly what I catch are tiny white bass and small northern though with a variety of others from bullhead, catfish, and crappie. Im trying for walleye which seems impossible in my shallow lake where they are so far away from shore like all the time.

In the one month I have fished every day at least 2 hours and averaging 3 hours per day, I have caught a single walleye (21 inches). My friend caught 4 walleye while fishing with me most days. We spent a ton of time fishing the past month.

It just sucks cuz walleye are supposedly super abundant. Most boaters catch their limit every day. It is so frustrating fishing walleye from shore in summer.

I went a good 6 years once, now a days it rarely happens. I've started bringing an ultralight along with a baitcaster so I can throw smaller stuff if the bass aren't after bigger lures.

it depends on how you define skunked. If you mean not catching a single fish of the target species, then maybe <1% of the time. If you mean not catching a single legal sized fish of the target species, then maybe 10%?

Most of the time I target panfish, and they have either no size limit or a pretty low bar, so by default I never get "skunked" when I target them. I do wade fish though, not strictly limited to the bank.
