Hello Anglers,

I am a little sad this AM. I made mistake while messing with one of my new reels. I had to bring it in the house to swap the handle. Instead of taking it off my custom pole from the start, I decided to bring the whole pole in the house.

Long story short, the top of my pole didn't make it in the house before the door closed and it closed on the pole. I can see a slight abrasion on the rod near the second guide. I was so excited to use it tomorrow because I upgraded reel handles on my Tranx 401. Now I'm scared to put a 5oz weight on it and cast out.

Pole is a Phenix Cicada 8'6" MH. Still somewhat new. I know Phenix has awesome warranty but I don't know how if I have to take it or repairs or if I should just shrug it off and move on.

I'll get picture this evening. I was too sad last night to take a pic.

Hey Gills. sorry to hear that. Where did you get it. The outdoor pro shop here sends rods back to the company for repair or replacement. Usually, give or take, for around 30 bucks. Hope you can find out who to take it to. I might wait till it breaks to send it back though. IDK, good luck.

I bought it from my local bait store, Romeo's in Freeport. Ok, I am just going to fish with it till it breaks, hope it doesn't.

Check with Romeo's and see what they say. They might be able to send it back for you when the time comes.

Doors of all kinds, house, garage, car doors are the death of more fishing rods than all the fish that have ever been caught or caught and lost. Just Sayin...RJS

A couple of things to think about, Gills. Does the damaged area feel soft, are the fibers crushed? if you do use it like it is and you catch a nice fish with it and then it breaks, it could be "good by," fish. if you are tossing 5 OZ. with the rod and it withstands that, it will probably land most fish. I would call the tackle shop and see what they think you should do.

Fair enough. I'm fishing in the AM so I'll be back with an update and hopefully more later can tomorrow. I rarely take pics of the dinks and shakers, but I'm sure to be catching something, hopefully not just a buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

I’d give it a test as in normal fishing style. If it holds its good. If it breaks it breaks and now you know it needs fixing. No sense in wondering.

As I always say, no matter how much it costs, if you slam it in a car door it’s still broke. Love my Ugly Stiks.
