Morning Rob. Sorry to tell you this but Mariposa is out in the boondocks. I don’t know of any spur of the moment fishing spots near you. I used to live in Greeley Hill ( Mariposa County) Fortunately for me that end of the county was near some great fishing holes but the town of Mariposa is another story. Don Pedro has good bank fishing but it’s a good hour away. I wish I could help more.

Hey Tx, it’s Mariposa not maripusa and being from Tejas you should know that Mariposa is spanish for butterfly. Just saying.

Appreciate the info. An hour is still in the spur of the moment area. 2-1/2 hours = 5 hours round trip. Need to plan for that. I’ve fished McClure a few times. Once for Trout and I caught my limit in about an hour and a half. That was in November Time frame. Went again last June and only got Catfish. Wasn’t able to get far enough out in the channel to get to the trout. clCatfish, to me, are boring. Just feels like a rock on the end of your line. They were all in the Two pound catagory. Oh well, I’ll keep looking.
