Neighbor just got jumped

Man, idk about this neighborhood we moved into. Yesterday there was an incident with a few people fighting right behind my truck, looked like it was racially motivated. One had a tire iron smh.

Then, today, my wife came into the house telling me the neighbor got jumped. After the police left, I went over to check on him. Hes 50yrs old and someone with his two buddies knocked him out and cut his face up pretty badly... while he was in a lawn chair in his own yard. He turned his head and a guy came up before he knew what was going on and hit him, blind-siding him. Knocked him clean out. This is two days in a row, same people, same place, around the same time. Tracy, my neighbor, was minding his own business and wasnt even paying attention, because its HIS yard.. he shouldn't have to have his head on swivel in his own yard, it was just ignorant behavior. I feel bad for him.

Now I have to be alert. I'm usually carrying my daughter in my arms while loading her into the carseat, with my back turned, so Trish is gonna have to be my eyes and ears while I do that. I'll be darned if I get jumped on like that. We moved to Bay City because its supposed to be nice here. We are from Flint Michigan, and it's the second most violent city in Michigan, with Detroit being number one... we thought we were out of that madness. I guess no where is safe anymore.

Idk, but I do know I'm on alert. God shall keep us, and keep me alert enough to mow the yard or load up the truck.. it's a shame that we have to be alert in our new house. A darn shame indeed.

It's a shame for sure, another thing for sure is, I would get a permit to carry for both of you. Maybe get a big dog too. It is what it is, do you want your daughter to grow up in a place like that.

We are locked into a year lease, this is our first month here smh.. ccw is not an option for me because of my past. I have a pellet pistol that looks real and feels real, and it's better than nothing at all. If someone tried me and I had it, they would most definitely feel it if I shot.. and it's not fatal. I keep a knife too. It's just a shame we have to do all that. Hopefully they're just passing through town and leave soon. The homeless shelter is within a stones throw away, so they may be residing there and will be leaving soon, I hope anyhow..

Maybe go to a free legal aid place and see if you can get the lease broken because of the violence there.
That's no way for anyone live in fear.

Ever think about a sling shot if you have restrictions on fire arms? They may not be deadly but they put a hurting on ya. Besides, if you need to use it you don't have to worry about anyone saying you could put somebodies eye out with that thing.

Darn Denny i know what you are going through. Lived in Baltimore City in my earlier years could not trust anyone. Eyes always looking for the bad guy. Saved up which took time and got out of dodge ASAP.

If mace is not available i saw something on here awhile back to use wasp spray. Just as painful as mace. Weapons can be turned against you, even though i would have something along with a spray.

Danny: Since you are restricted from carrying, how about keeping a baseball bat handy, at least under your front seat, carry it back and forth when you go out and come in. It won't protect against guns, but it will let the hoodlums know you mean business. Just Sayin...RJS

Wasp spray is a great item to carry with you in the car and when you are out fishing from shore or anywhere else.
It is a very effective device for self defense and not considered a weapon.
It’s also good for defense from wasps. Just sayin...

Can you own and possess a black powder gun. If so Pedersoli makes a nice 12 gauge double barrel shot gun. I have two if them. They also make a 10 gauge. I just bought a JTS m12 AR 12gauge shot gun.

I have the pellet pistol and it touts that its strong enough to hunt small game with, so I think if I pull the trigger on someone, they will think twice about advancing.. the slingshot and black powder is also.an option, I forgot about black powder weapons.. I have my military training too. Mace is also a good idea, and I've never heard of using wasp spray, that's also a good idea to have around. I have a hammer in the truck just in case, but it's a short swing, so it would be close-quarter combat.. I think I'd like to have some reach, like with a bat or something. Idk but I'll have to do something.

Denny,
Is this the house that you just recently moved into and we're so excited about?
I'm sorry if so. Nobody should have to live on "high alert" life's too short! I agree with Larry. I'd be seeking some free legal counsel to get out of that lease. I know uprooting and moving is a pain in the @$$ but that neighborhood doesn't sound liked it going to get any better soon! My prayers for you!

This is the outcome yesterday. I feel so bad for him..

As far as legal counsel, that's definitely an option. I really dont want to be holding a newborn and two year old out to the truck and get hit. Like everyone said, it's a darn shame.

And yes, this was the house we were excited for.. the landlord AND tracy both said this was a good neighborhood ..Tracy is the one in the picture, the one who was hit. He apologized up and down saying he felt bad for telling us it was a good neighborhood.. that shows his good character, hes bleeding and STILL apologizing to ME.. poor guy.

Dang it Denny, it's a shame we don't have any lawyers on here that could give you some advice. And this happen in the daylight hours. Some low life people around there for sure. Shame the media doesn't pick it up. Prayers for you, the family and your neighbor Denny.

And to keep it out of the attic i will stop here.
