Croakers are excellent live bait unless you regulations say otherwise. We Carolina rig them here in the gulf and the redfish and speckled trout love them.

Welcome Cliffish. Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I am absolutely no help to you as I'm not into saltwater fishing. There are very knowledgeable members here that will come to your rescue. Good luck.

Hey Cliff what is your target down there? Stripers and Trout running well up here off of the Pamlico. Flounder coming in season in mid August and you should be getting some Drum down that way.

A fellow user just north of you that you mat want to Pm is ( troyfrd1 ) he should be able to answer your questions better.

Welcome to the Forum, cliffish. Patients, my man, If you have fished for only a few times and you have caught a few croakers, that's not bad. Use them for bait and catch a bigger fish. Good Luck!

Try the rips on the north end of Oak Island or the inlet on the south end if you're surf fishing. There are also several spots along the intercoastal. Good luck.

Hey cliff, you had some good trout fishing in the river up there in Kent. I'm more a bass fisherman, and fish Lilly and Zoar quite often. Good Luck in NC, I'm planning to retire to SC in a year and a half,or so. Tight Lines.
