Got out on the water bout 0730 and couldn't find any bait fish anywhere. Finally just used frozen bait. Nobody was catchin any fish and we tried several places. Finally found 1 halibut that Brad caught , it was 28 inches. Really nice fish. Little while later he caught a 4 foot angel shark. Didn't photo the shark, just unhooked it while still in the water.
Wind never did come up and it was a wonderful day. Was off the water by 1 PM.
Did you fish Hog Island? Could you tell how it was outside?

IDK, I just know we got up to a building complex and Brad said it was the coast guard. I know Bodega has one for sure. Didn't see any BIG boats(ships)moored there so IDK what the place is just what my buddy told me. He fishes it a lot.

We got 4 fillets off of it. Cut down the lateral line so got 2 per side. I brought 1 home and left 3 with Brad. The 1 I brought home is prolly 1 1/2 pounds at least.

I believe that's the one. It's right on the hwy. from Petaluma. You drive by the Coast Guard base on the way out there.

I sure miss going to Alaska and bringing home the ‘butt’ and the ‘sockeyes’. Never passed up the opportunity to go for ling cod a day or two snd of course the rock fish were great. Some mighty fine eating there!

If it wouldn't cost so much, I would go up there every year, I love that place.

I used to do all the arrangements for a group of 6 people. Rentals, lodging, flights. Its been 6 years now but the last trip was $3200 ea for 9 days of fishing ( plus two travel days). That was everything including Air fare, food, Charters & fish processing, licenses, rental vans, and cabins to stay in. I was always Gold Medallion with Delta so most years we all got upgraded to first class when I bought seats for them using my Medallion status. Went 23 out of 27 years. But that is now a past phase of my life. We would do charters that went from 6-6 daily then go to the Kenai and fish until midnight for Sockeyes - a couple hours sleep and a shower and off again. those were the days- couldn’t do it now.
sure sounds like pure good times and fun to this ol Fisherman Huntm22. I haven't found much anymore that is not expensive. Everyone needs money and the pure cost is just a fact of a good time. I have been to Alaska. A good friend flew me up there and free place to reside for 3 weeks. The trade was help get his house project started. He and wife bought land out of Palmer AK not far from Anchorage and Wasilla.. I was into some good fishing and recreation off and on between getting his New Home Project started in Summer.
