Find someone with a permit and see if he will give you a Dupont lure.

So this is actually true... I live in Montana and we generally are fishing for trout in a lake. When I was a kid I would catch fish quite often, but I can't remember catching a fish since the time I was around 19. This isn't a joke, I fish quite a bit because I love to just be outdoors and on or around water, and that's all I chalk up fishing up to for me the past few days. When I say I'm going fishing, all that means in my mind is I'm going to sit in my boat and enjoy the sunshine and put a string in the water for no reason. I've tried every kind of bait, every kind of hook, and advice from hundreds of people who claim to be a expert. Nothing. Trolling, casting, doesn't matter... The fish exist, last weekend I was fishing from shore near a kid who I watched pull 5 or so fish from the lake in about a hour... At one point I yelled over and asked what he was using, he said just a worm on a hook... Me too kid, me too. True story, me and my wife were fishing one day at the river, she had caught a few fish, me nothing... At the end of the night she threw her empty hook in the water to clean it off, and cought another fish.

It has me confused and I would like to end this cycle this year and somehow catch a fish... Maybe someone on here can teach me something I haven't heard before.

This is true with me. Everytime I fish from the bank, prop fishing rod & reel in a forked stick and leave it. Every time I would leave the combo, go get more bait or check the other rod & reel not too far away, and would see my whole fishing outfit go in the water, (probably a catfish or carp). This has happened to me 5 or 6 times. I couldn't make it back in time to grab the outfit. Kinda funny if you think about it. That fish dragging my outfit around in the lake.

I was going to suggest disposal gloves as some people have a scent that fish don’t like.

like fish dancer said it could be your scent,, I was fishing with my best friend after a hard days working,, I was getting g fish after fish and he was right beside me not getting a bite,, he asked me to bait up his hook and "pitch it out there" I did and less than 2 minutes later he caught the biggest fish of the day and continued to catch fish as long as I baited his hook !!

Sad. Very sad. How are you still walking upright? Not even losing the worms? A. Knock that kid aside and fish his spot. B. See First exactly how he hooks the worm. C. Take his fish.

Funny stuff there. I’m still sticking with the dynamite though.

Got that one right - the infamous ‘DUPONT’. As kids we would use M-80’s. Always got our fish!

Hook up with a guide and see if he can find what you're doing wrong

I think this is a great idea. The others are as well but just getting on some fish with a guide can do wonders for your confidence as well as teach you plenty. Confidence is key, get your mojo back!

Me thinks you might have been a fish in another life. Lol! Or a world renowned fisherman thats filled his quota! But, it sounds like you have the right approach keep up chasing the sun and good luck breaking your slump this year. Maybe a lawn chair and go share a story or two with a kid!

I just have one ? for you are you using lotion or sun screen? If you get to the water wash your hands before you touch your tackle .That is the problem I see here in Colo.
