It was slow fishing this morning but I managed to land two. Oddly, they were exactly the same size and weight - 17" and 2#, 8 oz. I kept this one for my pescatarian neighbor and released the other one. Before someone accuses me of catching the same fish twice, I had this one on the stringer when I caught the second one.

You are a good fellow to feed your neighbor.

When I said that he was a pescatarian I really meant it. He doesn't eat meat - only fish.

People that let me fish their ponds are often repaid by some fillets of fish from their waters as I am leaving.
As a result I got many calls asking when I was going fishing there again. Some times I will take fish to neighbors who I know would like to have them. That just makes me feel, plumb good.

I give most all my fish away. AND I always fillet them before I give them away. Needless to say they all want to know if I've been fishin lately. (hint, hint) Except for Tony my Air Force buddy. He likes to eat the whole fish. I just gut and behead them.

The people that want fish from me just want them gutted. They usually just grill them. Easy peezy! Usually do it on the lake as soon as they are caught and they go into a bag in the cooler under the ice.

I only have to gut and descale them. He cooks the rest, head and all. I descale it because his wife almost killed him once for getting scales all over the kitchen.

If it is for us or most other people, I just fillet them. It is so much easier and no guts or anything.
