Hello everyone. Been getting the daily digest for a few weeks now. Great information. Amusing stories.
Just getting into this hobby. I mainly fish the lakes and reservoirs in Westchester County, NY. I've tried the Hudson and spots on the Long Island Sound.

Briarcliff-Ben: Well, Hoss, I once lived in West Nyack, just across the river. Never had time to fish or even think about it while there. Wish I had.
I suspect you would score with live bait, whatever the fish in that locale would normally eat. Bait shops and other fishermen would be your source of information about that. If you have read many postings on this Stage, you will have seen that hiring a guide for half day, or the minimum they offer would be money well invested in learnng about what,when, where, etc.
I have read that there are stripers, blues, and weak fish, or spotted trout caught in and around Manhattan, so if they are there, you should be able to find them in the water off long Island. Good luck and post your catch. Just Sayin...RJS

Caught my first largemouth bass over the weekend with my son. Got a few bluegills too. Will take pictures next time.
