Salt clams as freshwater bait?

Does anyone know if clams would catch catfish, panfish, carp or anything really in freshwater, if anyone has experience with this please let me know

No experience with fresh water catfish but catfish will eat anything that smells

They have muscles in fresh water and fish eat then. I dont see whu clams wouldn't work.

i've used cut strips of cod we caught up in maine as bait on spinners for pike and muskies. Caught a surprising amount of pike that week.

Absolutely. Just try to make it impossible for the fish to get the bait off the hook without getting the hook. I have added oyster juice to bait and it makes big difference. You can get the clam up on shank even on leader side they have to eat hook too. Some fish learn how to get soft bait off hooks. You also can use silly string or magic thread I think it’s called usually elastic string red or white. Wrap it and pull tight so there is something as a mesh to keep bait on hook when the swimming shop vacs try to eat your bait.
