I like my Maui Jims, but you don't need to spend anywhere near that amount on them. Any pair of polarized glasses will be solid. Before I grabbed my current pair, I used the "flying fisherman" brand off of Amazon. I believe they are 20-25$ now, and they definitely worked for years and years. And when you break or lose them, 25$ isn't too big a deal.

Don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on name brand glasses anymore now that polarized lenses aren’t uncommon. Blenders are $30 and work just as good as any name brands.

For budget shades I like Sunclouds. If you want to spend a lil more check out Native, Kaenon or Smith Optics. I have owned all and have been happy with each. I was a Costa user for years but their quality has gone down over the years. Much better options for the $$$ IMO

I just want decent shades that are not too expensive. Once they get scratched or broken they are garbage anyway. Glass will not scratch as easy as plastic but they will break easily if dropped or impacted very hard. Scary to have something that close to your eyes that can break and ruin your eye or eyes.

Safety glasses at Home Depot or Lowes. Indestructible.

I have one pair of Mauis that I've had hinge problems with and a pair of Oakies which I love.

All of the information above is good. The thing is, always wear a pair of sun glasses when fishing or just being out doors in the sun. However, be certain that the sun glasses enclosed your entire eyes - top, bottom and sides. Without this type of sun glasses, you are a candidate for Magular Degentation as I was told by my Eye Doctor Specialist.

I have and have used RayBan, Bolle, Costas, and cheapos. Of those the best were the Bolle. My current favorite pair, and are as good as my best "expensive" glasses, are from Shady Rays. $49.95 with lifetime warranty to loss or breakage. You can't beat that warranty. These are clearer than any I have owned for my eyes. My humble opinion.

I fish saltwater and need Rx - prescriptions to tie knots --
I had been using Costco reflective & polarized prescription glasses with a chip, but the transition from distance to deck was muddled and I found it unsafe on stairs/ladders on offshore boats.
Now I have a pair of reflective, polaroid Costco's but it still comes to about $150-$200 per pair. The optics on the $25 plastics were poor.
I looked at Costa's at a boat show, but the cost for Rx was outlandish.
I just got a new Rx for my glasses and am now trying to decide. Leaning toward large aviator style lens from Costco .... Any thoughts?
My son wears Pelagic polaroids with a wrap-around style and loves them.
Tight lines.
