My wife, bless her heart, is a terrible cook. She has absolutely no interest in it. I on the other hand love to cook. And I'm pretty good at it, if I do have to say so myself. So that works out well for us. She does like to eat. I figured out early on in our relationship that if I was gonna ever have a decent home cooked meal I was gonna hafta do it myself. Mrs. Spirit is the one who burns the Kool-aid.

We have a local grocery store that the meat mgr is aGerman fellow. About once a week he whips up a batch of german recipe brats. If you happen to get there as he is putting them out you may get a few. Thought maybe word would not get out about his brats but it has. They only let him make a batch a week and they sell out in a hurry. Nothing compares other than those right in Germany. Major yum!

Did a quick stir fry of snow peas and carrots with a pinch if cinnamon and palm sugar. Had it with some grilled chicken and jasmine rice. My wife is a great cook but I do most of it because I enjoy it more and I don't like eating dinner at 9.

In the 80s we would have a company picnic. Our compnay would order brats from Ohio or Wisconsin because we didn't have them down south. I question the ones they have down here now.

I get my brats from an Amish guy in a farm market. Best I've had since I was in Bavaria in the army.

Once again, I get another reminder of how lucky I am to live in WI and also a lesson as to how ignorant I am as well. When my girlfriend and I lived in the Black Hills, she worked in Rapid City and would go to Albertson’s grocery store on Wednesday to buy the only 2 packages of Johnsonville brats which would come into town. I would boil them in beer and onions and put them on the grill for dinner. Coincidentally, her boss at the time would stop by for a brat and a beer on his way home from work. He is from MN, so we’ll versed in brats and knew I would be grilling some. Anyway, WI heritage is a melting pot, so not only are we known for cheese and beer, we have sausage and fish frys, too. Johnsonville has a huge plant and I am sure they can ship just about anywhere. There variety is endless, so I suggest you check them out. Usingers also ships them during the holidays, but may do it year round, too. Unfortunately the Winters are sometimes 6 months long, though 🤦🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Here they used to be the Johnsville Brats that they had at HD. Grandaughter used to work in the shack so we ate our share there. Mist times didn’t need anything - just went to see her and give her a tip so she made a little more. Usually the tip was more than the brat!😀😀

Good man. I can’t pass up a fundraiser selling them, or watch a baseball game without eating at least one.

There are some things I miss about my WI roots. I can get Johnsonville brats here but I miss the fish fry and food from Summerfest and the State Fair. Pretty much fried stuff. Everything from eggplant to cheese curds. I don't miss the long winters, high taxes compared to TN and generally the high cost of living. That being said, part of my heart will always be in the land of cheeseheads. Go Pack, Bucks, Badgers and Brewers.

Come back anytime! Okay, maybe not December through March 😉
No Summerfest, nor State Fair this year, nor any of the other festivals due to Covid 19. Oh well, more time for fishin’
