Looks like the business end of an alligator snapper. That mouth can bite through a broomstick. Make a good turtle soup. Only experience I've had recently was having one the size of a trash can lid swim by while I was wet wading smallmouth.

Snapper lol you can use a jug an heavy braided nylon line with a big hook an Bluegill. I always used a board instead of a jug. I haven't caught any since my cages got stolen right out of the ponds out in the AEP recreation lands. if you make the cages you had better use heavy gauge welded wire them snappers are mean lol. We would power boil them an use heavy rubber gloves an pull the meat off the bone an then roll the meat in flour an fry in a iron skillet with real butter. Like I do mushrooms 😊 eat as soon as it comes out of skillet cause it gets tough if it sets around an cools off. Gooood eatin

Snapper. While hand fishing, put your hands on the shell then follow the edge of the shell until you find the jagged part. That is the tail end, grab the tail and lift him out, but be sure to stay away from the business end, or you'll have a new nickname...Stub!

This is one that I hooked a few years ago. That is a 3/4 ounce spinner bait stuck in his face, he was not happy. There are bigger ones than this where I fish.

Snapping turtle. I would rather confront a cottonmouth. That boy can hurt you.

I've caught quite a few of these in Ohio River. Always dread it and always cut the line. Caught on Shrimp mostly.

I'm tired of catching turtles...all kinds. I fish with worms (live ones) regularly when the bass won't take an artificial and almost always catch at least 1 or more on these worms.

Snapper. I don’t know about the seven different flavors but they make a hell of a good soup. If you boil them for 6 or 7 hours then roll them in egg and flour (or whatever) and deep fat fry them they are delicious, nutricious, and taste just like chicken.
