I'll probably get downvoted to hell for saying this, but I hate seeing a beautiful fish like that out of water and laying on the ground. I know it's a personal choice, but for me, catch and release always.

Came here to say, "get that fish off the pavement".

The second after the pic was taken it was off and in the water, I couldn't hold it because it wasn't staying still, no damage to the fish and he swam away.

You should not put fish on the ground if you want to release them properly 1) because they might start flopping because like you said “it wasn’t staying still” and give themselves a bruise or abrasion or other sort of injury, and 2) because you are rubbing off the fish’s slime coating, which is basically it’s only immune system.
Yes it swam off aggressively, because it was trying to get away from a situation where it thought it was going to die lol. And it very well could have no ill effects. But if you want to c&r properly don’t put the fish on dry ground.

Ok thank you I will do better next time.

Yeah man no worries. Not everyone is born knowing how to release fish correctly haha. Most of us took pics like this at some point.

A net solves a lot of issues while fishing for any species.

The problem was that the net was not in my gear, and I couldn't get it because it was at my house 2 hours away.

Understandable ive done the same before.

A very nice brown, congrats! I would have done the same and I haven't kept a trout in 50 years! You may rest assured.

Are the waters you fish state or privately stocked, or are the Browns there breeding? Pretty fish!
