We do this at the fishing club once a year. We scavenge lead where we can. Gets harder to find every year. We do all the molds we plan on for the year in 2 days. How do you source your lead Mike?

Nice. Just wondering, do you cast your own bullets?

Like you guys where ever I can get it but I’m a little bit picky I like good led like old led pipes any soft led Wheel weights sucks they have to much tin or babbet it it. It hardens to fast in the mold Ann won’t come out completely. Like a jig head. The shank won’t form or the barb that holds the grub on won’t form. If you use good led whatever you are molding will completely form. And you don’t need to get your mold near as hot.

A casting and a jigging spoon. I tie the tails also out of deer tails and crystal flash. I wrap the spoon with aluminum duck tape that’s what makes it shiny. And I use stick on eyes. These work great for hybrid stripe regular stripe. Walleye and sauger also.

I don’t always use tails on them a lot of times I just use a plain treble or a single hook with nothing on it.

Look good Mike. If I was a fish I would give it a taste. If I was a fisherman at a store I would be buying them especially if hand made and catch fish. Really Nice work Mike.

Everyone try to be careful around the lead fumes. Old Batteries ( lead Acid) have good lead in them. The bigger the better.

Check out plumbing supply stores. Old school way to put cast iron pipe together Lead was used. Today its gaskets, but sometimes already fitted joints need repair and you might find it still available.

Those of us who reload ammo or cast our own fishing weights think of lead when an investment advisor suggests investing in precious metals.
