How many of you older members of this forum rely more on Google or Bing for your memory than just thinking? Well, I certainly do.

For example: I happend to remember seeing a photo of a surfer flying down a large wave, and right under his board was a large shark, not two or three feet below him!

Since I was curious, I googled this and guess what? I could not count the number of photos of similiar situations! Don't believe me, go look for yourself. Now I understand that a lot could be faked, and created by photoshop, but it was still an amazing and increadible shot.

Now it is because humans aren't tasty? If we were, there would be a lot more one arm, one legged, or disappeared surfers, don't you think? Dont forget Australia has lost one Prime Minister and I believe I read just recently another person disappeard there while surfing.

Folks, I have done a lot of crazy and dangerous things in my life, but there's no way I am going to paddle out into the ocean on a surfboard amidst a sea full of large sharks and pretend to be a saltine cracker with a slice of baloney or ham on top! In my mind that is playing Russian Roulette by loading the revolver and only taking one shell out! What say yee! Just Sayin...RJS

My son-in-law lives on Maui and he loves to surf. I have watched him out there and a big humpback whale breached right next to him while he was on a paddleboard. There are to many critters in that bug blue ocean that makes us humans look like dwarfs. I don't even like going out on a kayak to tell the truth.

If, Heaven forbid, I was ever out on any kind of board, and a humpback whale breached beside me, there's not enough toilet paper to handle the job! Just Sayin...RJS

It didn't seem to bother my son in law in the least. I have been out there during calving season and those whales are huge even the calves are huge. And then when you see what those sharks can due. No thanks I will play in the baby pool. Just sayin.

That's my opinion too, don't mind being on top of the water in a boat. Australian prime minister Harold Holt disappeared off Cheviot beach on the Mornington peninsula many years back and was never found. I've seen some big sharks while game fishing, one day in 1990 had a 14ft oceanic whaler took a bait, had it beside the boat then cut it free.

I have watched shark week and some of those great white sharks reach 20' to 21' in length. I stand at 6'2" so do the math.

I love fishing. I sure remember as little kid with life jacket and then later without it....in lakes or rivers wondering what was about to nibble on my feet. In a pool its clear with a painted bottom there is less fear than not seeing into the murky of natural water bodies. Like once a kid heard of the boogie man ….its creepy to go out at night. As far as going Surfing etc...boogie boarding was fun in late teens early 20's but Ocean Fishing was more interesting when cant go to beach with all buddies and girlfriends once everyone works on regular basis.

Remember that the Bull Shark can/live in fresh water and they have caught/found Bull sharks over 2,000 miles up the Mississippi river. Sp be careful fishing for those catfish.

I won't even wade in my creek where I've been doing all my catfishing. This is a 3' bull shark that I hooked there.

Hey RJ, I believe Russian Roulette is played with only one cartridge. The other chambers are empty.
