We can't eat the wild ones around here, they are too bitter. I have some tame ones planted that are very good. When we first moved out in the woods back in '91, we went out to pick some wild ones, we didn't know any better. For some reason, I felt eyes on me and turned around and saw two coyotes sitting there watching us pick the barries. I told the bride and she looked and she was done picking barries. One time we went out for a walk on the township road where we live, we were walking down the hill and three coyotes came loping around the corner up the hill towards us. That was the end of her walk. She is use to them now but they don't seem to be quite as many around either. My coon hounds ran into them a few times while hunting coon and gotten beaten up. If they would smell them while out hunting they would get right into my hind pocket. They didn't want any part of them. A coyote will beat the crap out of a hound, they are to fast for them.

Tillamook Creamery (Oregon) has a blackberry ice cream, with the berries already in it. Only had it once. Seasonal. If I ever get another quart of that stuff, it'll be the Yosemite Sam quote: "Back Off!"

Tillamook makes some really good ice cream but the best I ever had was in Texas. Blue Bell Peach Amaretto.

Blackberrys Mike, up here the wild ones are pretty sweet, but try and get them before the birds. As soon as they're ripe, the birds are on them. Besides all the treats mentioned, try them on a nice bowl of cornflakes,or ricekrispies!
