My weekend partner went out Sunday on Tomales Bay and didn't even get a bite. Said they caught a bunch of bait fish but no halibut. Tides are all wrong next Sat, too low to launch. Guess we'll have to shoot for the 27th. OH well. I'll be out on lake Sonoma tomorrow hope we can get into them there.

I've seen some real nice stripers that came out of Tomales. My spell checker is convinced that should be tamales. Took me several tries to get it right. I've never fished there - I usually go down to Marshall to the Hog Island Oyster Co. I know you don't like oysters.

If that’s your smallmouth lake you’ll get em. Just be sure you have enough franks.

My buddy said there was suppose to be a beach launch down there that we might be able to launch at.Do you know about such a place?
I like oyster stew and fried oysters. Might be OK grilled, I haven't had those.

Pretty sure there's a boat launch in Marshall and one at Nick's Cove which is right around there. Google those. Now I don't care for cooked oysters much, I prefer to eat them raw. But. Hog Island has bbq'ed ones that are really delicious - they aren't really cooked, just heated until the bourbon butter they put on em is sizzling, then they serve em. We usually get a dozen of those and a dozen raw, a good loaf of bread and a couple of beers. I don't usually go for hoppy beers much, but with those oysters, a couple of those is a great way to wash em down.

google the hog island oyster company - they have recipes for their hogwash, which goes great with the raw, and the bourbon butter. Then you can try it on the ones you get from Safeway for about a buck apiece. That's what I do with em.
