I have a rod which I want to use for both cast and retrieve top water action (think bluefish striking a krocodile or cast master) as well as a fish finder (think night time striped bass fishing off the dock). The fishfinder rig requires a sinker slider and bead on the line. Does the stripped (meaning clip-removed) slider and bead interfere w the action and presentation of the lure? What are your thoughts?

You can always use a leader attached to the lure and tie it to a swivel then your mainline, with the sinker attached to the main line, so the weight isn’t directly in front of the lure.

Just cut it off and retie when you want to fish bait?
Bluefish is going to hit the slider and bead and you're going to lose everything.

Agree. Blues when they're schooling and in a frenzy will bite anything and do. We used to use some pretty heavy leader material for em. Sometimes wire. They're certainly not line shy.

Don't take the easy way out. Cut the fish finder rig off to tie the lire. You should retie that knot regularly anyway because casting puts stress on the line under the bead and makes it stretch, weakening the line.

Freedivedan, if you want to keep those krocodiles, cut off your fishfinder, and tie on a 6in braided ss leader.
