My name is Dean,

Been away from the Farmington River for 30 years. I live in Farmington now and would like to know the hot spots, if any along the Farmington River in Farmington. Would love to catch some bass and trout like I did as a kid on the river.

Dean

Dean, if you don't get a reply to your question you can scroll up and hit the user list section and then scroll down to find by location type in the state you are interested in. Only a few have listed correctly like yourself to list the location properly, but you will know better when you see there location if they are in your area. Just Pm them.

Dean,I don't fish the Farmington hardly ever, but you should pay close attention to the regs. Some areas are fly only, c+r only, etc. Read the Fishing Guide for details of special restrictions.

First of all, there is no fly fishing only areas on the Farmington River. In the trout management areas, it is catch and release only, all year. Farmington is in the lower river, downstream of the great trout water. However, I have caught many trout and some bass there. A good spot is off the main road(I forgot the name), where there is a small park with benches. There is a driveway that goes down toward the river. Another spot is just over the bridge on the left.

You are correct Howfisher,no fly only, but there are :c+r only, and single barbless hook areas. The Housy has Fly only area's. My mistake.

Also, try the Housy for bass in the summer. It does have a fly only area.
