I love our f**g. And I love NFL football. But if the rich football players can't find a better way to protest, than to disrespect our f**g, like Trump said yesterday, " I won't watch NFL football. "
In the last two years I rediscovered college football. Let the NFL go have a cold sore.
I’m with you guys. If they allow kneeling in the NFL, I’m done watching it.
When I was a boy, I used to love "The pledge of allegiance" every morning at school. This was when the Beetles, and the Stones were just starting to dominate the music scene. And a bunch of girls were having a discussion about their favorite song. I spoke up and said "America the Beautiful" was my favorite. Boy did they laugh. But today, it is still one of my favorite songs, and brings tears to my eyes even now.
I once did a speech on the American f**g for Toastmasters. I showed them the star on the map that was our state. Cheyenne is in the south east corner of the state and I showed them the place on that star, on the United States f**g, where our town was. I then took a pin and stuck it into the star and said that was their house. Only in America is such a thing possible.
I share your love of America the Beautiful. The song and the place.
To me the football field is a place of work. They get paid to do a job on that field. What would happen if you or i went to our place of work and protested?
Protest if you want, that is what many Gave their All for. But not at your place of work.
I agree completely!
Although I agree with the reason they feel they have to kneel, I just don’t think during an NFL game while our national anthem is being Played is the right time.
Let them take their millions of dollars and pay for a commercial to show what they stand for. But I’m sure if they have to pay for, their number of participants will decrease.
Put out my F**g first thing this morning, as I have done every June 14th (and 4th of July, & Memorial Day, & Veterans Day) since becoming a Cub Scout 58 years ago. Came back in the house and got my coffee and sat down to read the forum. Happy to see the first topic...F**g Day !
Not at all happy to find that there are still folks that think that kneeling (NFL-wise) has anything to do with PATRIOTISM...IT DOES NOT !! Even Drew Brees has been enlightened and apologized. The head coach of the Texans vows he will kneel. MUCH of the country has now been "enlightened", but obviously there remains a faction that got it wrong in the first place and choose to remain " Un-WOKE"....as in Robert H****r's song lyric "you ain't gonna learn what you don't want to know".
If you choose to continue the farcical mantra of the uninformed, that is your right, most assuredly. It also my right to observe that you were hardly "die-hard NFL fans" to begin with, were you ?
1 1/2-2 1/2 minutes (the time dev**ed to the National Anthem) of a 3 hour game.....and "I'm outta here !".... such loyalty...lol.....such ambivalence to a NATIONAL SCOURGE... POLICE BRUTALITY AGAINST A MINORITY... the ACTUAL reasoning behind the RESPECTFUL KNEELING.
There was no "turning my back", no black-gloved raised fist, no DISRESPECTFUL act, whatsoever.
You are aware, aren't you, that KNEELING and BOWED HEAD is THE MOST respectful thing one can do ? It trumps "hand-over-heart", or even a salute..it has since ancient times, in every culture, even among the animal kingdom...ie: observe the non-dominate wolf approach the Alpha.
I implore those of you who find rationalization in your stance, to become more tolerant of those, who have chosen to make us "priveleged old white guys" see what some have endured for waaay too many decades, nay... centuries, despite a Civil War, despite a Civil Rights Bill, despite the efforts of so very many CHRISTIANS to correct our cumulative "Uncle Tom" behavior.
Kinda sad that this should even be a subject matter on a beautiful F**g Day Sunday morning...WE have work to do yet, apparently. I have hope for y'all, I truly do... but it seems you need to be coerced...I suggest you seek out that black friend...ask about his/her experiences...& LISTEN WELL....they and I are losing that hope with each travesty made publicly known.
I have stepped on toes before, my upbringing will not let me be silent. For goading the uninformed I make no apologies,.......to my fellow Americans who are being the victims of r****m and bigotry.... I PROSTRATE MYSELF BEFORE YOU AND ASK FORGIVENESS FOR ALL !
I think you’ve pushed this further than at least I feel was needed. My point is, do it on your own time. Just like I don’t want to hear Michael Moore, Brad Pitt or any other celebrity talk politics while accepting an award on national television. Do it on your own time. Let them use Twitter, Facebook or wh**ever social media Source they want.
My father was a 31 year marine. Fought in World War II and the Korean War. Retired Master Gunnery Sargent. I know he would not approve of kneeling during the national anthem. But we live in a country with free speech and many other rights my father and many others fought to protect.although I don’t agree with some of what you said, I respect your right to have your own opinion.
My bad... mis-spoke..not "Uncle Tom".......JIM CROW.
Oh my..how could I mix those up ? Shame on me.
