A pond we fish at has channel catfish, wide mouth bass and green sunfish. He would like to put in some crappie. I don't think it's a good idea because the fish are to damaging. The pond isn't even acre big. I believe the fish would destroy the pond.
Beside the green sunfish, would blue gills, perch, or some other panfish work better. Which one is bigger? Which one is the least damaging to other fish and pond?
Don’t want oxygen deprivation or over populated too. 1 acre is about 200 feet by 200 feet.
I’ve never heard this before. Depending on the age of the pond and what the population of each fish is pretty much determines how big those fish will get. Mother Nature will take care of her own. No, adding any more fish might not be good.
If you add anything, get black crappie or hybrid bluegill. Neither will populate as fast, black crappie producing 95% males, and the hybrid bluegill have a very low reproduction rate and grow bigger than regular bluegill.
