Hi everyone! My son and I are going on a 10 day fishing trip to Devils Lake ND from June 12 - June20 and was hoping for some up to date fishing suggestions, baits, methods, area's, weed lines vs. rock structure, etc... Any help in making our father and son trip successful would be great!

Don’t be afraid to ask the locals in the bars and bait shops. They are very friendly, appreciate the tourist $ and want you to be successful and tell your friends. You are heading for one of the best walleye and perch fisheries in the Country. The lake is huge and the fish are plenty. There may be an up to date fishing report from ND Game, Fish and Parks available, too. Good luck.
Thanks for the input! we are excited to fish the lake and have great memories..

Welcome to the Forum, MikeJake. Devils Lake is not the typical walleye lake, as I see it. I went out there with my son and his son last year at about that time. I too asked this forum for advice, received very little. Not many members from North Dakota. My son and I have fished walleye in MN., WI., South Dakota, and Canada many, many, times. We are serious walleye fishermen. Anyway, the first day we got up early and we were fishing by 6:00 am after a big breakfast. We fished until about 5:00 pm. The grandson, 16 y/o and knows how to fish, he, thought, he had a hit, he wasn't sure. That was it., for day one. Day two, much the same. We went up there with four other good walleye fishermen and one of the four caught two walleyes, one each day, the rest of the guys, nothing, no hits. That evening, I talked to the neighbors from WI., who had been coming there for years. I told them of our dilemma, they smiled and said, "man, you got to fish this lake at night, don't waste your time fishing during the day". Problem solved! We had the best luck with bottom bouncers and a crawlers while drifting. No problem drifting, lots of wind out there. You will need a decent-sized boat, because of the wind. If the lake gets too rough, you can always catch stripers from the shore, as many as you want. Ask at the bait shop where they are hitting, they know and will help you out. If you need more help, PM me.
Thanks! We will be there in a few hours. We are staying at Eastbay, anyone know spots there?
We do have a boat and will let you know how we do
