Few bream

Not much action at the moment from the bass, bream starting to move around though. At 7 this morning caught a redear just under 12 in. Also had a few small gills. Did see 1 nice bass later but wasn't interested in my lure

Catching it on a 10ft crappie rod really tested it out. Had lines out 20 to 30 yards and that hit 3 ft out

Ronnie my dad was from Alabama and growing growing up in Indiana he called bluegills bream. Now you've mentioned both. Can you please explain the difference between bluegills, bream and sunfish? To me, a redear is a sunfish.

This is what I've seen and been told since being over here, they class bluegill and some others that look similar as bream, there are others that are only classed as sunfish. The redear sunfish is quite distinct with the red band on the outer part of its gills

Spirit being from NC we called them the same as your daddy, i've always had a hard time distinguishing them also, I'd like to read the response also?

There are folks here in California who think if it isn't a bass it must be some kinda perch. Bluegills are perch. Cat fish are whiskered perch. Funny thing is other than surf perch, there are no perch in California that I know of.

They call them kivers, or kivies, up here in New England. I don't know why. They say kivers are small. They do know what a bluegill is, but they do not know what a Bream is. All catfish are horn pout. They get me really confused when they talk about fish species. Oh well, that what I have chosen to live with. However, that is a nice Bream you caught there.

I moved to Texas a year ago from Al all panfish bluegill ,red ear pumpkin seed warmouth, with the exception of crappie and yellow perch are called bream as a common name like in Texas they are called perch I am still getting use to that.

I saw someone post on here last week that the “bream” were moving in. I had no idea what that meant, so I looked it up “on the google”. As far as I could ascertain, bream is a generic term for a bunch of species of panfish. Bluegills, sunfish, redears, pumpkinseeds, and some others are apparently all bream. What Spirit always says about learning something new...
