I'm in Idaho now, but Utah Lake catfishing is still my favorite. I left my house at 4:30 am and headed for Lincoln Beach, a little over a 3 hour drive. I landed my first cat, a 23 1/2" at 8:45. I ment to try some different bait this trip, however I left the marinated chicken I had in the fridge. So I used my favorite; a half of night crawler threaded up the #1 bait hook and onto the line, then a fresh pealed shrimp. So I thought I would compare some different scent. I put Gulp recharge on one and sprayed the other with my favorite, WD-40. My WD hit the first, then again at 9:00 and 9:30. Then I reeled the Gulp one in and sprayed it with WD and started catching some on it.
I got 15 cats on Friday most of them 22" to 24" 4 and 5 lbs. My biggest of the day a 26" and 8 lbs.
Saturday I was on the water at the crack of dawn. It was going to get windy latter and I needed to be done early. I landed my first at 6:15 and at 9:20 I caught my tenth one and got off the water. I got them all (25) on night crawler and shrimp sprayed with WD. Here is my bump board, how I measured them.
I have heard of fishing with WD40 but never tried it but will soon

Heard of using wd-40 don't think its legal in Be.
I use to add wd40 to smelt for sturgeon. It always seemed to help. I have read in some state rules that wd40 can be added to bait but to dump in in river or water is illegal. I guess you need to put it in something that looks like scent container instead of wd container.
Jeremy, I have just started doing this. I had the idea to find something thick and no scent to mix with WD. And I started spraying some wd into a clean plastic bottle and now I can just add a drop or two from the plastic 4 oz. bottle.
👍🏻
I use to use the red straw to poke a hole through the smelt gut... then pull it back into its gut to fill the reservoir ( belly). Then when get dropped to 40 to 80 ft deep under water you know the pressure would be pushing it out the micro hole in its mouth / gill area. River current moves scent down stream to a fishes sniffer. Fish on 👍🏻
