Mariner 200 1998 Continual beep, beep, beep beep on warning system. Just had new impeller installed. When motor is hot due to faulty (what ever) the manual says you will get a continual sound. Oil reservoir on motor is full and oil is getting mixed in the gas. Drained a little out to check that. So need some ideas.

I'm not a motor mechanic, but it sure sounds like something is telling that sensor that things are heating up. I'm assuming the impeller is used to draw in water to cool the motor as it's running? Sure it was installed properly? Isn't there a water outlet where you can see if water is coming out? Stuff to think about.

If you had a new impeller installed it could be a plugged water line. Lil bees n hornets love to make nests inside them. Or when the lower unit was put back on they didn't get the water line lined up right. You should have a good stream of water squirting out.

I had the float in the oil tank go bad in my '96 Merc. Replaced the float and the beeping went away.

eggs idea first. If it works well and the water pumps....might need thermostat...might need the sensor that triggers the beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeePPPPPPPPPPPP. it just like a dummy light in cars...several things can trigger it. it is usually just a switch to ground..wheather temp or oil pressure etc. it connects to ground. the sensor itself could be shorting out.

Good point Jeremy! Had continual earning beep on my Merc a couple years back and would throw the motor into low rev immediately. Some sort of safety governor.
Turned out to be the sensor itself went bad. Replaced sensor and off to the races again!

Check the oil float on my unit signal from float level switch was bad. I had plenty of oil and was mixing ok but the float level switch was not working.

Found a manual on-line. Intermittent beep can be one of 2 things. Oil issue or water in gas. If little red lite is on, water in gas and it was on. Drained filter, then got a new filter and wala, it ran fine!!!!

My Merc had a sensor in the oil tank that went south. Did the same thing

I have a 1997 mercury Mainer I had the same problem the sensor is in the oil reserve and goes bad for what ever reason. Change reserve/oil tank That changes the sensor and should correct your problem

How long has it been since a new water impeller has been installed? Mine looked like it was pumping just fine but once the impeller was replaced the beeping stopped. A friend also had an issue similar and it was the sensor in the oil reservoir on his four stroke.
