Well, getting ready. Got the taste of that saltwater fish in my mouth. Literally, Vermilion snapper. I am going offshore on Monday to the Snapper grounds. Red snapper opens Monday June 1st. Get some 15 to 20 pounders. I did last year every time I went out. I caught a Pond best out of my work Pond yesterday. 4 lb 6 oz. Beat the last big one I got out by 2 ounces. So needless to say I am excited and getting my saltwater stuff out tonight. Plan on fishing all night Sunday. And leaving to go 4 hours offshore at 7:30. Of course I will post when I get back. Like I said wish you all were here to share this dinner. One of you gave me some advice and use Old Bay. And you can see I did and am. Thank you

I love the beer batter but I add a little Chipotle and lime panko from Kroger select. But Kroger discontinued it. It was sooooo good. just a bit of spice to the batter makes it way good.

Now all you need is a bag of UTZ Old Bay potato chips for a side to go with that fish. Nice going Jon and good luck out there.

No saw. The only freshwater fish I keep are the ones that are gut hook. Some catfish now and then. And sometimes when I get into real thick crappie. All of my eating fish comes from the ocean. What I am eating tonight is vermilion snapper. Caught right before the pandemic. I will keep my to allowable red snappers Monday. I will probably keep 2 15 pounders. That will give me over 10 lb of fillets. Last year on the red snapper trips I caught around 25 or 30 red snapper per trip. Some go to what they call donations. People who don't catch any fish on the boat or only have one. Until the boat limits out. Which is 197 red snapper. It's amazing! I will dig up a picture of last year.

looks good. I go ocean fishing too. I always take calamari and the deck hands usually say go for it but usually tell me it doesn't help and try to hide it from others on boat. I slice it up and add a little piece to my rubber lure on a rusty hook ( boat provides rigs) but funny thing is more than once whoever is with me using the bait and myself end up filling everyone's totes with fish. We can keep 5 of one type 1 of another etc. Usually black Seabass is main species...deck hands do NOT want to keep adding it to other people rig.

If you really want a boost take the squid strips and let them soak in shedder crab oil.
