Looks like a variety of spoon. They can be used in a wide variety of ways: trolling, cast and retrieve, jigging, etc. Its always smart to carry at least on gold and one silver spoon in your tackle box. Size depends on what you’re fishing for. There’s really no such thing as a good or bad lure, in my opinion. Some lures just work better than others depending on geographic location, weather, water clarity, lure color, action, etc. There are many variables and you should try to fish lures you can afford and see what works. Don’t be tricked into paying $30 for a lure when a $3 one works just as well. No lure guarantees you to catch a fish. Hope this helped, good luck and tight lines!

ahh okay i got it, i went fishing for my first time today, in a river that breaks into the sea, around that point of the river, so it was somewhat sea fishing. i caught something but it came off, i was using a cheap 1.50 metal fish kinda lure, but i lost it. i don't know if my knot wasn't good enough or what. but thank you for the advice!

I've seen very crazy items turned into very good lures. Dont Toss it aside until ya try 😊 fish will bite onto almost anything If it catches their eye.

I have been a fisherman for many years and the one thing I take away from it is this: Buying more equipment and tackle does not equate to catching more fish.
Well, hoss! Stop and think about the purpose of lures. They catch fish because they look like food! Also, in some cases they might be a threat and are attacked! What you have is an excellent lure in your river or enlet because it flashes a silver side just like a lot of bait fish that are the common diet of larger predators.
Be sure you have tied secure knots or one of them will swim off with it! Just Sayin...RJS

Go on youtube and learn about tying knots.
The shape of it resembles that of a Sand eel.
