Did you get up to Lost Creek? This time of year Collins can be real tough from the bank, you need to be out there real early, dawn. Once the sun hits the water you can pretty much forget about it, they go deep and you need a boat. Still, I'm going one more time. Then I'll be heading up to higher elevations.

No I didn’t make lost Creek
I was out there plenty early 430
Don’t think I’ll return there any time soon social distancing was a big issue at the campsite

Ya had to remind everyone, huh? Yeah, you're right. Most of my posts should just say hell don't ask me. Well, I can tell you what worked last year. I think I was on some prime water this past week, but the wind was not cooperating. Somebody, was it you?, mentioned using a rocket to get my line out. Maybe, but then I don't know how I would have felt a bite, those perch aren't that big.

Yeah I usually avoid Collins after April - too warm, too close to town, too low, too many too many's. End of April thru September, stay away. But. The last fish I caught was at Collins and it was a nice one - my pb rainbow. If you want to see it do a search for my post "the old man and the fish". From last December. All my other posts. about fishing since then have been about this big ol skunk that's been following me around. But don't give up on Collins, you just need to go at the right time. Visit their website and see when they start their fall plants. Best to go then.

OK I’ll take your word for it but I’ve been there in January and no luck try to get there before the snow flies next year

did you fish from the bank or a boat? And were you fishing for trout? That's a good bass lake and there are also some good size channel cats in it.

Yeah once the water warms up the trout head for the old creek channel at the bottom of the lake where it's cooler. Bass and catfish can be had year round. I've never caught a catfish there but I've never tried.
