There are several good private trout fishing lakes near your area.
Get some info on lake McCloud in Mcloud and Lake Siskiyou outside of Mt Shasta for starters

I live in Chico Ca about 2.5 hours away
The Rogue river is close located just outsideAshland/Medford
Welcome ksjoens. Medford guy here. Like mentioned above, quite a few options, lake-wise. Copco is fairly close, not sure if it produces. I have not fished the Klamath, rafted it many times. Excellent whitewater, especially when they're running 2 turbines. To fish it properly, you may need to find the site my rafting buddy uses to find out usage on a particular day.... sorry, don't have a link, nor know how waterflow rate effects the fishing, it must, I'm sure. I'll be talking to Jerry this week, might garner some info for you. Don't know if you are interested in fly fishing, but the McCloud near Dunsmuir is stellar for that, to the point of being considered a "world-class fishery". I have only fished there once, years ago. Again, have a friend who is a regular visitor there, Greg may have some hints, I need to call him about something else anyway, I'll ask. Not sure what the protocol is presently for out-of-state license, you'll have to check, but up here in the Rogue Valley we are blessed with the river and within 50 miles, probably 50 places to go catch a fish.... come visit ! PersMsg me if you are coming, I can give you some direction, maybe even go with. Nice to have someone"just over the hill" from me on the site.
Thank you
Several good ideas ,
I am interested in the license requirements so that I can come try the Rouge.
Now I just need more hours in the day .
And fewer chores!!!!
Or....
I just like to fish!!!!!!
