I just joined a boating club here on Long Island. Up front fee and monthly payment. Reserve a boat, show up and take it out, come back and go home. The fishing boats are all 22’ or larger center consoles, fully loaded. Cobias and Seafoxes. There are 6 locations around here, and along the entire east coast that I can use. Not cheap, but a heck of a lot less than owning, and no headaches. Im psyched.
How far can you take it out and what do you catch

You can go offshore. All species that are in our waters. Stripers, blues, fluke, blackfish, seabass. Shark if you want. This year I’ll stay in the bays until I’m 100% comfortable with the boats. They take you out until you are proficient at handling the boats.
That is like mine pretty close I have a Grady White 22' and we get out off shore mostly no problems

Gradys are solid boats. Love them.

That's the way to do it.
After a day on the water the last thing you want to do is flush out the motor and clean things up. But it has to be done.
Sounds good to me.
Larry you are right most want hail off and leave you hanging but with me one time only it will not happen again

Troy I go out occasionally with my neighbor and each time he wont take money for gas or accept the help at days end. I am okay with the money part because I look after his place, cut the lawn and minor maintaining of his place for him. So I figure that is a wash.
I am curious to the non acceptance for a wash down though. I feel like I should do something. Got any suggestions?
Take a lunch Plumbob...Breakfast...Beer? Some guys just want to host.

He even supplies that Jeremy but I take stuff to. This is a get away home for him and I think he is just really appreciative of what I do for him. But that feeling of wanting to help still gets to me.

He’s probably just particular about his boat and that’s ok. Just help out with everything but cleaning the boat. I know guys like that and I’m one of em. Just wanna see people have a great time and not ask them to do the dirty work. Have him over for a BBQ once in a while or something like that.

Plum find out what his favorite restaurant is and get him a gift certificate. Or gift card to a tackle shop.
I am same. I done have buddies that do all the things you do for him but he wants to show appreciation. You are on his good list. I used to take people from work Sturgeon Fishing on Saturdays and some wanted to show they appreciated the trip others just wanted a free ride. I just wanted to show them something inexpensive and fun right in our backyard here where I live. Sturgeon rules changed so much that its not the same at all anymore. Many times when Salmon Fishing gets boring (no bites or fish ON) we would end up going Sturgeon fishing because you would pretty much always catch them. I am talking about 25 years ago though too. Salmon is hit and miss still here. Shad bites around now pretty good. They are good Crab bait and fun to hook a bunch of them but I don't eat them.

I've never asked for anyone to help me, even though they would offer to.
I would take people from work with me at times. We all lived in different cities.
Just to have someone to help with launching and retrieving the boat was help enough for me. We would just meet at the ramp area.
One of my buddies hates backing trailers up. So I do that part then I go get truck at end of day too.
