Dissapointed with 2nd Ug Stick Elite

A few weeks ago, maybe a month ago, I purchased an Ugly Stik Elite. At the time, the closest I could get to a 7’ MH rod was a 6.5’ medium, fast tip and loved it. Shortly afterward, my son-in-law bought an Ugly Stil GX2 7’ MH combo and after taking it out once decided it was just too big in all features. (He is a bigger than me and a cop) I had a medium BassPro rod that I swapped him for it. And yes, the 7’ MH Ugly Stik GX2 is a brute, probably better suited for offshore or catfishing. This morning I bought an Ugly Stik Elite MH thinking I would like its lightness and finesse like my 6.5’ medium rod. Well low and behold when they brought it out it was like the GX2 7’ MH, a brute. Right there, I immediately returned it. I learned a lesson and that is to never buy a rod online unless I had owned the exact same rod before, and even then, I may squirm. Cheap lesson. Sorry for the epistle.

If you are sure of what you want order online. (But be sure) BassPro here probably has them but Walmart doesnt. I will chase it for you if you like.

One of our Walmarts had them here, but the one they had left when I went to buy it the butt end was broken off.

Hmmm, Didn't think of that. If they still have it tomorrow I might see what they say.

Be aware. WalMart is what it is. They are a HUGE company. They many times have products of all sorts that are manufactured specifically for Walmart. They will be marked the same as what you have seen elsewhere or advertised but may be a lower grade because it is specifically manufactured for Walmart at a lower cost to Walmart than the rest of retailers. I learned the hard way with Tires from Walmart... they were sub grade quality. I have learned many of their products are contracted by vendors and are made at a lower cost and quality.

You may get good stuff there but just be aware. I bought an Ugly Stick Tiger Rod. It has no porcelain in the eyes just the metal like old rods.

Caveat emptor. The big difference being in the old days a merchant would not let you return goods that you were not satisfied with. Walmart and others will. Still this is a rather sneaky way of pushing inferior goods off on gullible customers.

Walmart is ok for a lot of things its just something to be aware of. You hit the nail on the head though Spirit. I am guilty too....I purchase something from somewhere....im not 100% satisfied but I never take the time and spend the effort of taking it back. Majority of people may but it doesn't mean everyone follows through is all. Retailers hope people are lazy like myself and never go return something even if they can.
